The Sweetser's apple barrel is a family farm since 1812.Currently the Orchard is being run by Connie & Dick Sweetser and their son Greg. They maintain the 14 acre farm supporting more than 1,000 trees and gardens. They continue to plant new trees for the future, so the next generations can continue the family tradition of farming.
In 2012 we will celebrating our 200 anniversary!
Along with having a selection of apples second to none, and knowledgeable and helpful staff, Sweetser's offers apple cider, apple butter, decorative apples, gourds, ornamental corn, dried beans, and many other fruits and vegtables, when in season
Our business won the 2010 Maine Family Buisiness Maddy Corson Award. This award recognized Sweetser's Apple Barrel and Orchards for it contribution to the community since the family homestead was built in 1812. Today, three generations of the Sweetser family arecurrently involved in the orchard business. Connie and Dick (4th generation) oversee the day to day operations. Debby and Greg (5th generation) now own the orchard and are committed to maintaining the family hertiage. Eben (6th generation) was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the family.
The success of this Cumberland landmark is in part, due to the strong local support of surrounding communities. We look forward to your visit!
